About

There is a growing interest for wildlife and conservation among students from different fields. With today’s knowledge about the impact of anthropological activities on nature and its inhabitants the younger generations have started to question what can be done in order to change the development. At the same time, many students are not aware of the different career possibilities within the field or do not even know how to get started in the first place.

Therefore, this first ever Nordic wildlife student symposium have been created. It will be a three-day symposium with a main focus on Nordic wildlife and interdisciplinary work, taking place at Copenhagen University in Denmark between 6th to 8th of December 2019.  The aim of the symposium is to introduce younger students to the wildlife field as well as establish a network among students from different professional backgrounds. Another goal is to inspire students to engage in Nordic wildlife research in the future.

The intention is to achieve these aims by limiting the symposium to Nordic wildlife only and mainly focus on local wildlife diseases, research, health and conservation. We want the interdisciplinary approach to be the silver thread throughout the symposium and professionals from different fields working with Nordic wildlife in various ways will be invited to speak at the symposium. We also intend to discuss the importance of interdisciplinary work and how we can work together as a team to promote and improve collaboration as an essential part of the field of wildlife.

So whether you are from the field of veterinary medicine, biology, social science, economy or another field with an interest in wildlife and conservation, let’s traverse tracks in Copenhagen in December!
